Aspirant goes home.

Today our brillant aspirant left for home. We shall all miss her very much, she was fun and lively and brought a lot to us, – among other things  she set up this brilliant site for us! We wish her a safe journey home and hope we see her again soon. Please keep her in your prayers.

Listen, and incline the ear of your heart

So I gaze on you in the sjuly2007-002.jpganctuary, to see your strength and your glory.

We’re a bit stunned by your responses and kind comments! We never expected such a warm welcome from the blogging world and it was quite a surprise to come in after Morning Office and find all these comments!

We thought we’d share some photos of the Abbey for you. Above you can see our Choir. We know this really very well, as we’re sitting here five times a day singing Our Lord’s praises!

This stained glass window, showing SS Mechtildis and Catherine of Siena, is tucked away in the Abbey Church and not many people see it. The photo was taken in the evening after Vespers, with the sunlight streaming through – beautifully illuminating the angel.

Enter by the narrow gate and travel the path less-trod.

A view from under the crucifix in the monastery’s cemetery through to the orchard.

Right. We have to run to Midday Prayer now! Hopefully you’ll enjoy the photos.

(PS we still like lots of comments ;) )

Hello world!

This is a first for Colwich – another step in our illustrious history!

We – the novitiate at Colwich Abbey in Staffordshire, UK – are eager to share something of our life with those who might be interested. So we asked, and our Novice Mistress gave us permission to set up a blog so that we can share with you a bit about the day-to-day life in our monastery.

At the moment we have two postulants, one of whom will be clothed in the Benedictine habit next month. In addition, three women have made or will be making aspirancies in the near future.

We’re new to this blogging business, so watch this space! And more importantly, please keep all of us here at Colwich in your prayers!

PS We like comments! Talk to us!
