This is a first for Colwich – another step in our illustrious history!
We – the novitiate at Colwich Abbey in Staffordshire, UK – are eager to share something of our life with those who might be interested. So we asked, and our Novice Mistress gave us permission to set up a blog so that we can share with you a bit about the day-to-day life in our monastery.
At the moment we have two postulants, one of whom will be clothed in the Benedictine habit next month. In addition, three women have made or will be making aspirancies in the near future.
We’re new to this blogging business, so watch this space! And more importantly, please keep all of us here at Colwich in your prayers!
PS We like comments! Talk to us!
Hurray! Yes! Sisters!
We have found our blog very helpful in promoting vocations and our monastic life. It really helps and especially when you add pictures! Then the young women see that you are real people just like them!
God bless you!

I’ll put you on our blog list when I catch up!

We were lucky enough to be able to join your prayerful, warm & loving community for our annual retreat last weekend.
We hope and pray that many more women will find their way to the Abbey and keep you in our prayers

Dunastan – we are intrigued, where is your monastery, is it really in the desert? We are thinking of you and praying for you, keep in touch.
Bl Elizabeth – it was lovely to have you stay with us and we hope to see you again before too long .

Yes, the Abbey of Christ in the Desert really is in the desert. New Mexico desert, to be more precise. here is their website:
http://www.christdesert.org
It is part of the Subiaco congregation, like Pluscarden.
Oh, and your recently departed utterly brilliant and ineffably gorgeous aspirant is a friend of mine. She’s met me twice and is still willing to speak to me!
An-y-way, free time is almost over and it will soon be time for None. Thank you for your prayers and thoughts.
