Poem of the Bridegroom and Bride

With thanks to the Passionist nuns – ” In the Shadow of His Wings” – www.passionistnuns.org I am sharing this with you which I think is beautiful.

A nun is a woman

Who believes in the Absolute

And arises in search of it,

Laughing at all who

Speak of the imposibility of it,

for a woman, who is also a nun,

knows that the impossible

Becomes the possible in a matter of seconds,

At the bidding of the Beloved.

A nun is a woman

who has become mad,

Totally, irrevocably, mad!

For she has accepted

The standard of God’s wisdom

Which is in truth folly to man.

A nun is a woman

Hanging on the other side

of the Cross

Knowing that it becomes

His marriage bed with her

The moment she asks

“to be lifted up” with Him.

A nun is a woman

of the water and the towel,

constantly kneeling before

Mankind to wash its

Tired feet.

A nun is a woman

In love with God – hence with all humanity

Always…constantly…totally!

A nun is a prayer-

Everlastingly lifting her arms to God

for those who don’t.

A nun is a woman

who fasts,

Knowing well how fast, fast reaches

The heart of God!

A nun is a woman

Wrapped in the

Poverty of God,

The mantle of

HIs surrender, His emptying!

A nun is a woman

Who exists

To show that God exists too.

Suggestions please.

Ok, so i have been neglecting you all by not writing and this one has to be quick as i need to iron the wimples. My excuses – yes silly as it sounds i feel a need to make them_ are i have picking blackberries- which have been abundant, and i always feel that we should make an effort for fruit like that whch we are given as a gift, gratis, from God. We didnt plant it or tend it it just grew. Also picking elder and using them all to make jams. Trying to weed the garden but it is a losing battle with all the rain and be more recollected ( i have a habit of rushing round in my own fuzzy world and walking into other sisters) so I am spending less time on line + the pc plays up and i want to murder it! Not very nun-like statement i know.

Sadly we didnt hold the vocations week as although we had interest that particular week didnt work for people – we sort of expected that as we arranged it at short notice so it was always hit and miss.

We do want to try again but need some suggestions for other weeks so if anyone is interested please either write to us here with some dates or send us an email. You can come for all or some of the days and we will play it by ear basically. So, must be off now, will try to get pics up – yes i do keep saying and i will – to the ironing I go. peace and blessings, all who read this are held in prayer on Thursdays at exposition too, i dont know most of your names but God does so thats all that matters.  pax sr marie therese.
